Why did we all have the same canon events in our childhood?

Alright, let's be honest for a sec.

Has it ever happened that, while chatting with your friends, someone casually mentions something that has shaped their childhood and then BAAM!, you realize you lived the same situation too?

And not only that, you ask around and at least half of the people you know actually has the same memories as you.

Because it has surely happened to me!

Do we live in a simulation? Are these "Canon Events" that every kid has to go through to reach the next level?

For example, why do our parents all act the same?

Tell me why EVERY dad in existence snores like he wants to tear down the house and why every mom pushes you off the bed yelling that it is already past ten (it isn't, most of the time it is barely nine).

Maybe this is just an Italian school thing, but I was casually talking to a friend one night and they went: "Do you know the song Un  Ecrit sur les Murs?"

I was literally hit with war flashbacks. Because OF COURSE I knew that song.

For context, we both took French classes in middle school, and of course one of the best way to help us practice was listening to music; the thing is that this specific song was, apparently, a tradition in our school, even when there was thousands of children songs out there. This was THE French song.

This and the number song, naturally. Sometimes I still find myself singing that...

And how to forget the English teacher and their infamous stereo!

Maybe this is something which is familiar to more people; you could never predict when it would happen, it could have been even in the middle of a normal lesson.

"Who wants to go get the stereo for the listening?", or they came into class with the thing already clutched under their arm; and when that happened, it only meant one thing: that day was going to be the funniest ever.

And yes, the audio quality was horrible and no one ever understood anything. But we were always joyful and excited nonetheless.

Then there was this figurine album which was super popular when I was young (I'll do another post about it someday!), and during the school year there were volunteers giving it out to kids FOR FREE when they got out of school; but you had to be really sneaky with that, because they came only one time in the whole year. If you weren't at school that day... you had to literally wait for the next year. And yes, you could have just bought it anywhere, but it was the experience that made it so special!

And there's so much more, like giving out silly notes to our crush in elementary school asking them to be our girlfriend or boyfriend. Having it returned with a big X on the "no" square was literally the worst feeling ever, nothing could beat that sadness!

Now I'll probably reminisce something that only sisters (and maybe brothers, but I think it was more common in girls) will understand: when your mother dressed you and your sibling alike...

Around the age of 9/10, me and my sister had a full "Violetta" themed outfit. I'm talking about caps, shirts, leggings and even shoes. All with her face on it. They were identical for both of us.

I still have PTSD.

But seriously, what do you think of this? I honestly find it extremely funny how we all lived basically the same lives!

And if you want, you could tell me in the comments what were your canon events, I would love to read them!

That was the take of the day, thank you for stopping by <33
